Christina Marino makes Hofstra Cheer!!! 5/10/11 - 10:58 AM
Christina Marino practicing her heel stretch with Hofstra's Co-ed Team
Senior, Christina Marino tried out for Hofstra University's 6-time National Champion Co-ed Cheerleading Team this passed weekend!
Christina had a gruesome 9-5 practice on Saturday, May 7th and her actual try outs were Sunday, May 8th from 9-1, after which she awaited the anticipated results of her position on the team. She made the co-ed team and will attend the College UCA Camp this summer.
Christina has been a cheerleader for the Christ the King Royals since her freshman year and is currently one of the senior captains. Without her drive and determination our team would not be where they are now and she would not be on a nationally ranked team. She worked very hard this year attending many clinics; almost every weekend with the Hofstra cheerleaders, as well as going to gymnastics once, sometimes more, per week. She will be studying forensics at Hofstra as well as cheering on the Hofstra Pride!
WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU CHRISTINA!!!

Homecoming Weekend 10/5/10 - 11:18 AM
Homecoming Game 10/02/2010
Friday, October 1st was the CK Pep Rally, which was the culmination to their Spirit Week. The CK Cheerleaders were working hard since 6:30 in the morning practicing their routine for the day's events to make sure it was absolutely perfect for their CK friends and staff.
The girls showed their hard-work and amazing efforts in a 6: 30 minutes routine (3 times longer than a normal routine) which included student favorites like "The Dougie" and "All I Do is Win" as well as their high-flying stunts, pyramids and basket tosses. The CK community responded amazingly to the girls hard work and very difficult routine which they choreographed themselves.
Saturday, October 2nd was the Homecoming game where the girls cheered for their CK boys to victory. 22-14 the final score. The girls also performed a mini-routine at half-time for the fans.
Still not finished with their weekend, the girls participated in the CK Open House on Sunday welcoming all incoming freshman to the school as well as the team. Finally, finishing off with the Fall Festival on Monday, where the cheerleaders along with other Varsity teams had a day of entertaining the children from the daycare center while dressing up and having fun with little farm animals.
The cheerleaders as well as all of the Varsity sports that participated in this weekends events can be commended on their hard work throughout the season and more.

CK goes to cheerleading camp for the time EVER! 9/14/10 - 09:33 AM
The last week of August we had our first official practices for the CK Varsity cheerleading team. We started Monday and Tuesday with a clinic at Hofstra University with the Collegiate Champion Cheerleading Team, the Hofstra Cheerleaders. The clinic was an intense 9-3 practice. The CK cheerleader got a little bit of a taste of what the upcoming cheerleading camp would be like.
During the Hofstra clinic, the MSG Varsity channel taped some of the practices for their show “The Cheering Life” that will air this fall. Following the Hofstra clinic the girls had some conditioning workouts to prepare them for the upcoming camp in Greeley, PA, Pine Forest Cheerleading Camp.
On the way to Pine Forest the girls were preparing themselves with setting up goals for the team as well individual goals. The camp was an intense weekend jam packed with cheer classes, dance classes and stunt classes all taught by official Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) staff. From 9 in the morning until about 7 at night the girls had very little down time and the little they had they would go over material they had just learned to perfect them. There were evaluations that would help the girls learn where their mistakes were and how to fix them . Once evaluated teams would get blue, red, or white ribbons. Blue ribbons symbolizing game ready, red ribbon being needs a little bit more and white ribbons were that the material needs a lot of work. On our cheer evaluations the girls came out with a blue ribbon, therefore if they had a game that night they were ready to perform it in front of the crowd. On the dance and stunt evaluation the girls received a red ribbon which meant that they needed a little more . Then on the final day of camp the girls were evaluated on everything one final time. The girls received the blue ribbon again for their cheer, and then they fixed all of their mistakes in the dance and stunts and received a blue ribbon! We also had two of our cheerleaders try out to be an All-American Cheerleader. Melissa Betts won All-American Cheerleader for the Juniors and will get the chance to go to London to represent not only for our school but for our country for the New Year's celebration.
Over all, I think that CK’s first experience at cheerleading camp went tremendously well. The girls came out learning a lot of new material and a lot of new stunts, but not only did they learn material but they learned more about themselves bonding the whole weekend with each other.
Catch us at this fall's football season to see what we learned at camp and to see how much we have improved! Next game is this Saturday, September 18 at 1:30 pm at Juniper Park.

CHSAA 3RD Place in 2010 5/2/10 - 10:13 AM
Saturday, April 24th was the CHSAA Cheerleading/Step Competition at Christ the King HS. The journey was really hard. One month of practicing every day. Tears, bruises, and more. All came down to one competition that lasted only 2:30 minutes. The girls put everything they had into this competition, the first of many and were amazed with the outcome. 3RD PLACE! Christ the King Cheerleaders came in 3rd behind Mary Louis and St. Agnes. We even won the "Most Backhandsprings" with our very own Kasey Brutkiewicz doing 13 in a row!
We are very proud of our CK Royal Cheerleaders. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us through eveyrthing!
LET'S GO ROYALS!!!

Cheering On 3/30/10 - 09:50 AM
Cheering on
After not traveling all basketball season, the Christ The King cheerleading squad earned double-duty and a four-hour trip upstate to support their girls and boys basketball teams.
"This whole month has just been adrenaline and exciting," said the squad's coach, Jennifer Aguilera, a 2004 CTK graduate in her second season as the squad's head coach familiar with Glens Falls and the Civic Center on a few different levels.
She cheered for the girls team in the 2003 Federation Tournament of Champions, and is related to 2005 Lake George High School graduate and former basketball player Jason Jarett.

CK Cheerleading Competition 2/26/10 - 03:42 PM
As we prepare for the CHSAA Cheerleading Competition in April, we have many days of practice and we are even attending a clinic at Hofstra University where the cheerleading program is top notch winning many Collegiate National Championships. The clinic is Sunday, February 28. In preparation for the clinic the girls have still shown their dedication for our CK basketball program by cheering at the play-off games in which we are invited to in addition to regular competition practices they must attend. Cheering at the games is the essence of cheerleading which the girls are devoted to as well as the concept of a competition.
We hope our hard work and determiniation shines through at the Competition in a few months : )
More to come as we continue on our journey to the CHSAA Cheerleading Competition...
